Bob Schmidt has joined the South Dakota Corn Growers Association board of directors as an industry representative.
Schmidt is senior vice president for Farm Credit Services of America. He said he chose his profession because he has a passion to serve agriculture. He said the most important issue facing corn farmers is maximizing margins.
He graduated from Schleswig, Iowa High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in ag finance and economics from South Dakota State University.
Schmidt serves on the South Dakota Ag Foundation and the South Dakota Value-Added Foundation. He also is a member of the SDSU Board of Governors, where he is chairman elect, and is active in his church.
In his spare time, he likes to golf, exercise and take part in most outdoor activities. Schmidt and his wife, Carla, live at Pierre. They have two adult children: Krista Sarvis and Anne Kvamme.
